oh please. that's more retarded than an emotional friend.

i know i might get flamed for this but i have to say it.

i think it's kinda some bullshit that artie is back on the show and everybody's just happy as hell and thinks it's great.

yes, we are all happy that artie is going to continue to make us laugh. that's great.

but artie is a bully... whether or not you like high-pitch mike or teddy or whatever, artie is a bully... i don't care about his racial east coast bullshit or his homophobia... blah blah blah that's all his schtick, his act... it makes people laugh and identifiy with him... and that's fine.

but he works in a workplace like many of us do and he has no control over himself in the workplace... he sleeps on the job... continuously calls in sick... and worst of all, is abusive to co-workers...

i've worked with people like artie and i HATED the fact that they were bullies and that they got away with it... the entitlement that comes with being a bully in a workplace where it's tolerated is obscene...

if i worked at sirius i'd be pissed that you can abused like that and it's just laughed off if you're one of the "cool kids"...

I kind of feel the same way which is why I'm listening v _ e _ r _ y closely to what Artie says and his tone and today he disappointed me more than than he did yesterday.

    Example :

His use of the word "fag". He still thinks it's no big deal when in fact it does perpetuate (Sorry. Howard's got his head up his ass on this one) the "stereotype" with perpetuates the hate which perpetuates the violence. HPM drew the line too short. Now I know the difference when that word is used in a comedic context and when it is used to put people down or used in disdain. This is how Artie uses it. As a put down. He could substitute "fag" for asshole or pig or cunt or n***** or ? and it all means the same thing to him. He continues to use it this way and it makes him to look like a complete, old fashioned, stuck in the fifties, New Jersey tool.

I don't think it's total homophobia although there is some there. I think he's basically an insensitive lout. More like a bully like you said. I'm not sure where you reside, feral, but here in San Francisco we got a yearly event called the Folsom Street fair. A huge contingent of "the boys" come in from all over the country and a lot of them are seriously ripped and shredded. Some are serious looking biker dudes. Not all "fags" are limp wristed queens. Most act pretty much like men. I seriously doubt Artie has the belly to walk up to one of the fellas I know and use those words in that tone.

An example of Arties "adiictive behavior" :

Artie saying that Howard used the "F" word in the past yet Howard hasn't used it in some time and actually is trying to curb it's use on the show. This is classic rationalization. A "bad" thing or action being justified because it has been done before. Very child like, actually. My kids used to do this.

In jest, I use "fag" in a put down type of way. The gay guys I know also use it and don't really care if I use it. They know me well enough that I'm not a gay basher. Is it right that I use it, well only in the company of my friends and those who know me. I'm a going to change it...no. Would I use that word in company that I don't know...no.

Artie uses it because basically we know who he is and he's comfortable with the listeners. Yes, it's unfortunate that he also uses it in a very deragatory type of way, but in cases of people like Sal or High Pitched Mike...hate to say it, but it's funny. But in him using the term "dying of aids" - very very wrong.

That being said. Artie is too big a part of the show to just kick him off or for him to just leave. Howard doesn't want him to go and to be blunt, a big part of the listenership feels the same way. I'm sure there was a big "off air" discussions with Howard, Artie and SIRIUS brass, and from what I gathered, that brass wasn't about to kick him off either.

Yeah, I've had guys like that work under me (I was a boss), but I kept them in check. As a matter of fact, I did fire someone who was an over the top homophobe/racist...but not because of that, but I did find a way to boot him out. But the vibe I got out of him...he was that homophobe racist. (Him being an ex-skinhead and not even bothering to get a coverup tat over his swastika...well, I'm sure you get the picture).

The way I also look at it...it's the Howard Stern Show...and it's supposed to be crass! (at times of course).

The difference between funny and not so funny.

i don't care how often he says "fag"... i don't think artie hates gay people... i think he's rather clueless but like i said, it's part of his act...

i just think he gets away with WAY toooooooo much bullshit... physically going after somebody like he did... NOT cool....
