If Artie's gone...

After Jackie left the show, I thought there was something missing from the Stern show. I didn't listen as often. All the rotating comedians and guests in "Jackie's chair" didn't do the trick for me.

Then Artie came along. I think he filled in the void that was there after Jackie's departure. In fact, I liked him even better than Jackie. I started listening to the show every day again.

Now - if Artie's gone - the show will be missing something for me again. I'll probably listen a lot less. In fact, it may not be worth it to me to keep my Sirius subscription. I'm not saying they'll be wrong to suspend/fire Artie; I'm not saying they'll be right. I'm just saying the show wont be the same for me without Artie.

i'm curious how it's going to be if he is in fact gone...

i only started listening last june when i bought The Boy a sirius radio and subscription... the first weekend we had it was the weekend they did a jackie spotlight... and i HATED it... i thought jackie was boring, i hated the sound of his voice... i just didn't "get" jackie...

as soon as regular shows started up i fell in LOVE with the show... and i love love love artie... i really do... i love him despite his crappy behaviour... artie is just a sweet and likeable guy underneath the bullshit...

but i also believe that howard can pull just about ANYTHING out of his butt and make it work...

i will miss artie... but i believe that somehow, it will be alright...

but then i am one of those crazy people who hopes that there will be more sal and richard now... so what do i know?

That's because Jackie is a cornball and you're not.

The only time Jackie made me really really crack up was when he was reading in the "Robin voice" after her book was published. That had me crying.
        Otherwise, yeah, cornball.

I have to admit that he does do the perfect "Robin".

If Artie's gone then the show will move on. He's a part of it, but he's not the show. To be blunt, Robin is actually the bigger part of the show (since Howard feeds off her) and Fred comes in second. Artie was just an addition to that and can be replaced. Come on, all those times he called in sick, the show still went on fine in my book.

It did but you have to admit Howard making it a part of the show was funny! Those voice mails and the song paradies ... classic!

Artie's a piece of garbage and he needs to go. He's dead fucking weight. He's an alcoholic and an addict. He obviously has TREMENDOUS resentment against a lot of people on the show, including the show itself. He needs to go and get help from other alcoholics, not professional bullshit therapists. His problems are much deeper than that. God I hope he leaves the show.

There are a lot of people who feel this way. Artie is an adict/alcoholic. The definition is "A man or a woman whose life has become unmanagable." That is certainly Artie!

I don't think Artie has too much resentment but if he does have a "tremendous" amount it is only one of the many issues Artie has. A little NA/AA as well as OA would do Artie a world of good. Let's see in future shows how Arties thoughts and opinions are towards one seeking help are. That will be a great insite as to whether Artie is serious about getting help because if he still thinks getting help is "gay" then it's just a matter of time before he explodes ...... again. And then I think he'll have used up his 9th life.
                  • This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.

I personally love Artie on the show, and think he adds to the show tremendously.
I've been listening to howard LONG Before Artie came along, Artie just made me laugh at the show even more.
I laugh more at things Artie says any day, than things Howard or ROBIN say.

I do agree though that Artie needs professional help, he's overweight, drinks too much, etc.. But, I think this only add to the show.

Even when he just sleeps, and we listen to him snore cracks me up.

In no way am I trying to diminish his talents. I've already stated that he's the greatest addition to the show since Howard himself, talent wise. He can be the funniest guy on Earth and the biggest dick at the same time.

I agree, he can be the funniest guy in the world, or the biggest dick. They are now showing the "artie quites" show on Howard TV. I'm going to watch it tonight.
